The fishing village of Islamorada is located about a third of the way south from the mainland of South Florida. Home to one of the largest charter fishing fleets in the USA it is world-renowned for entertaining anglers of all abilities. Set amongst a tropical background you will find several places to stay such as the Islands Resort, the Islander Resort, Cheeca Lodge and Spa or Amara Cay. If you are looking for something a little more authentic try the Pines and Palms or Bud n Mary’s marina.
After a day’s fishing, there are several great restaurants in town that feature local seafood and will even cook your day’s catch. Some favorites are Chef Michaels, Square Grouper, Kaiyo, Green Turtle Inn, and Lazy Days.
Looking for some activities besides fishing? How about shelling on Anne’s or Bale beach, Kayaking in the Mangroves, visiting Indian or Lignumvitae Key historical sites, swimming with the Dolphins at Theater of the sea, scuba diving or snorkeling at a myriad of reef spots, taking a private horseback lesson at the Florida Keys only riding stable, or feeding the tarpon at Bud n Mary’s marina? Shop at a huge variety of local shops and art galleries, or visit the Irving Eyster Florida Keys History Museum or the Museum of Diving History. There really are almost endless options for fun things to do here in Islamorada.
