Islamorada Fishing Report January 24th, 2023 by Captain Greg Eklund
Sailfish season is in full season along the reef line off Islamorada. The last couple cold fronts have pushed large schools of Ballyhoo out of the bay to the edge of the reef. This combined with the good numbers of cigar minnows has set up a fast food source for the migrating Sailfish packs. The fish have been stopping and laying on the spots where this bait is thick. This scenario looks like it should last for a while which would be great for fishing. In addition to the good Sailfish bite there has also been several days of good fishing for Wahoo and big King Mackerel. Bottom fishing for Mutton and Yellowtail Snapper has been excellent. Still looking for the arrival of the Cobia during the next few weeks too. February is one of best fishing months of the winter season here in Islamorada. It defiantly time to get down here and get out fishing with us aboard the Cloud Nine.
